SEMA 2012 - GearWrench® Introduces 120XP Ratchet With 120 Positions And 3-Degree Swing Arc And New Mid-Length Sockets

SEMA Attendees Will Have the Opportunity to Demo the New Ratchet at the Show

GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group, known for tools that deliver speed, strength and access, today announced the launch of the 120XP™ Ratchet and Mid-Length Sockets at the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.

“GearWrench strives to provide users with innovative solutions to problems they face on the job,” said Jim Stewart, product manager for GearWrench. “The 120XP Ratchet and the new Mid-Length Sockets offer automotive technicians unprecedented access, helping them get their jobs done faster and more efficiently.”

New products at a glance:

GearWrench 120 XP
The 120XP is the only ratchet that features 120 positions for every full rotation, allowing it to turn fasteners with a swing arc of as little as three degrees. Its unique design makes it easier than ever for technicians to reach fasteners in severely limited access applications. The Double-Stacked Pawl™ Technology of the 120XP consists of a 60-tooth gear that alternately engages two offset pawls to produce the 120 positions and three-degree swing arc. The ratchet’s teardrop-shaped head has a low profile, which also improves access in tight spaces.

The 120XP ratchet design provides all the benefits of a fine-tooth ratchet without sacrificing strength or durability. The product exceeds ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) requirements for torque performance and delivers the strength and durability that have become synonymous with all GearWrench tools. The 120XP ratchet’s long handle is designed to provide comfort and a good grip for users. It has an easy-to-clean, full polish chrome finish and comes in three drive sizes: 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2”.

GearWrench Mid-Length Sockets
The new GearWrench Mid-Length Sockets improve access and productivity for end users.

The 1/4“ and 3/8” drive Mid-Length Sockets are 0.7” shorter than the equivalent GearWrench deep socket, offering extra clearance. The new sockets are intended for use when a standard socket is not long enough to give access and a deep socket will not fit in the space available, making it easier than ever to reach fasteners and complete projects faster.

The Mid-Length Sockets feature unique GearWrench Surface Drive® technology, which engages

the fasteners on their sides instead of their corners and helps avoid rounding of fasteners. All sockets include a double line (SAE) or knurled line (mm) to easily identify standard versus metric sockets. Each socket has a large hard-stamped size on both sides for fast, easy identification.

The following Mid-Length socket products are now available:

• 13-Pc 1/4" Drive 6 pt Mid-Length Socket Set Metric

• 10-Pc 1/4" Drive 6 pt Mid-Length Socket Set SAE

• 14-Pc 3/8" Drive 6 pt Mid-Length Socket Set Metric

• 11-Pc 3/8” Drive 6 pt Mid-Length Socket Set SAE

In addition to ratchets and sockets, GearWrench also produces ratcheting and non-ratcheting wrenches, screw/nut drivers, pliers and other specialty tools.

SEMA 2012 - GearWrench® Announces Availability Of Two New Tools

Innovations Include 84 Tooth Ratchet and Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench

GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group, known for tools that deliver speed, strength and access, today announced that the following tools are now available for purchase: the 84 Tooth Ratchet and the Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench .

“We know many of our fans have been anxiously awaiting these new tool innovations and SEMA is the opportune time to announce their availability,” said Jim Stewart, product manager for GearWrench. “I’m sure many of our SEMA booth visitors will go home with ideas for new additions for their toolboxes.”

New Products at a Glance:

84 Tooth Ratchet (84 T Ratchet)
The 84T Ratchet from GearWrench offers more access than the 60 tooth ratchet. The low-profile head provides access in tight spaces, while a bright chrome finish makes clean up easier. The 84T 3/8” Ratchet exceeds the ASME requirements for torque performance and features a ratchet arc of just 4.3 degrees, making it perfect for use in applications with minimal clearance. The 84T Ratchet is also available in several handle configurations to meet a variety of needs including offset, long, stubby and locking flex. It comes in three drive sizes including 1/4inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2inch and is available in combination sets with sockets.

Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench
GearWrench developed the Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench to provide users with greater access and speed for flare nut applications. The ratcheting open end allows you to easily slip the wrench onto a line and then advance the flare nut without removing the wrench from the fastener. The flex-head can be positioned through 180° to access hard to reach places such as power steering and brake lines. Finished in full-polish chrome, the Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench is available in a variety of sizes including metric 9mm – 21mm and SAE 1/4” – 7/8.”

In addition to ratchets and wrenches, GearWrench also produces sockets, screw/nut drivers, pliers and other specialty tools.

GearWrench®Indexing Combination Ratcheting Wrenches Improve Access And Speed in Industrial Applications

GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group known for unmatched strength and productivity, today announced GearWrench Indexing Combination Ratcheting Wrenches are now available to industrial professionals.

With 13 locking positions, Indexing Combination Ratcheting Wrenches offer industrial users improved access to hard-to-reach fasteners. When the indexing joint is locked, the wrenches offer improved access to hard-to-reach fasteners; when unlocked, a pumping motion can be used to operate the ratcheting head and turn the fastener very quickly.

The wrench’s ratcheting box end requires just five degrees to move fasteners, compared to 30 degrees for standard box end wrenches. Also, if an industrial application prevents the use of the ratcheting box end, then the open end of the combination ratcheting wrench is available.

“This category of wrenches is particularly suitable for industrial applications where challenging conditions make fasteners especially difficult to reach,” said Paul Steinweg, director of branded products for Apex Tool Group. “With Indexing Combination Ratcheting Wrenches industrial users can maneuver around obstructions and tight corners.”

The indexing ratcheting wrenches are part of a comprehensive line of premium industrial tools from GearWrench. The Indexing Combination Ratcheting Wrench is available in a 12-piece metric set and an 8-piece SAE set through industrial distributors nationwide.

“From hammers and screwdrivers to pliers and files, GearWrench provides industrial professionals with exceptional quality at a lower cost than other premium brands,” said Steinweg.

GearWrench® XL Pass-Thru System Delivers Versatility And Increased Productivity In Industrial Applications

GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group known for unmatched strength and productivity, today announced the availability of the innovative XL Pass-Thru System in the industrial channel. The pass-thru ratchet and socket system eliminates the need for deep sockets and its thin profile improves access in difficult applications. The ratcheting box end requires as few as five-degrees of arc to move fasteners, which dramatically increases the user’s productivity.

“The XL Pass Thru System can lower overall costs for industrial customers by eliminating the need for both standard and deep socket sets,” said Paul Steinweg, director of branded products for Apex Tool Group. “Our XL Pass-Thru sockets work where standard deep sockets won’t, such as providing access to a nut halfway down a threaded rod.”

The 23-piece XL Pass-Thru Ratchet Set includes nine standard Vortex™ sockets (3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8”), ten metric Vortex™ sockets (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 mm), two Pass-Thru Extensions (3 and 6”), Pass-Thru Adapter, and one Locking Flex Head GearRatchet Handle.

“From hammers and screwdrivers to pliers and files, GearWrench provides industrial professionals with exceptional quality at a lower cost than other premium brands,” said Steinweg.

GearWrench offers a comprehensive line of premium industrial tools. The XL Pass-Thru System is available through industrial distributors nationwide.

New GearWrench High-Strength Wheel Protector Impact Socket Set Provides the Best Solution at Every Turn

GearWrench offers a wide variety of standard and specialty sockets that deliver improved speed, strength and access. The newest addition to the socket category is the GearWrench 3-Pc High-Strength Wheel Protector Impact Socket Set. These new sockets (SKU number: 84946) last three times longer than other wheel-protecting thin-wall sockets due to the innovative high-strength reinforcing ring that increases durability and provides added strength.

Technicians no longer have to worry about damaging expensive wheels and lug nuts when changing out a tire. GearWrench High-Strength Wheel Protector Impact Sockets have a protective outer sheath and insert that helps to prevent damage and boosts productivity.

The thin wall socket design provides access even for wheels with minimal lug nut clearance and the color-coded outer sheath also helps to easily identify the socket size. The sockets also feature a manganese phosphate coating, which offers up to two times the life of black oxide coatings, further enhancing the socket’s durability. The three-piece set comes in a durable blow-molded storage case and includes 17mm, 19mm and 21mm sockets.

GearWrench® Introduces Innovative Ratchets, Sockets And Magnetic Drive Tools To Industrial Channel

GearWrench®, a premier hand tool brand from Apex Tool Group known for unmatched strength and productivity, today announced the availability of Ratchets, Sockets, and Drive Tools in the industrial channel to provide industrial professionals with unparalleled speed and efficiency.

Ratchets
GearWrench offers a variety of ratchets for the industrial sector as part of its premium industrial tool line. In limited space industrial settings, GearWrench Ratchets allow the user to turn a fastener more quickly without having to repeatedly remove or reposition the ratchet.

GearWrench Full Polish Ratchets feature a strong teardrop head, polished handle, and a flush-mounted on/off switch. The extremely low- profile head provides greater access than any other ratchet on the market.

GearWrench Cushion Grip Ratchets feature a longer handle providing added leverage and a cushion grip handle offering greater comfort and support for the end user.

GearWrench Roto Ratchets feature a head that rotates 180 degrees and a 72-tooth ratchet with a 5-degree swing arc, providing powerful ratcheting action in cramped spaces. The GearWrench Roto Ratchet also includes a cushion grip, adding comfort and support for the end user.

Sockets
GearWrench Sockets contact the fastener at more points than open-end wrenches and are superior to standard sockets because they feature unique GearWrench Surface Drive® technology, which grabs fasteners on their sides instead of their corners. Sockets are available in standard, deep, spark plug and flex variations. All sockets include a double line or knurled line to help the end user easily identify standard versus metric sockets.

Magnetic Drive Tools
The innovative design of the magnetic drive tools hold fasteners inside the socket as industrial professionals work in hard-to-access spaces. The magnet core tip extends through the bottom of the socket, enabling users to reach deep inside machinery or equipment while holding nuts and bolts in place during use.

“Strength, speed and durability are critical considerations in industrial facilities and we are confident that the GearWrench line of ratchets and sockets can withstand the toughest industrial jobs,” said Paul Steinweg, director of branded products for Apex Tool Group. “Our complete line of industrial tools offers industrial professionals premium quality tools at a value.”
