In 1979, Cooper Industries acquired Gardner-Denver Company and thus also Deutsche Garder-Denver GmbH (established in 1959) in Westhausen, Germany. In 1984, the first DGD® electric spindles with freely programmable tightening control were introduced to the market. In 1987, all DGD® built-in nutrunners were converted to brushless motors.
